BISHOP GROSSETESTE UNIVERSITY

BGU was established as a teacher training college for the Diocese of Lincoln in 1862. It gained taught degree awarding powers in 2012.

LINCOLN CATHEDRAL

Lincoln Cathedral is the seat of the Anglican Bishop of Lincoln.

Construction commenced in 1072 and continued in several phases throughout the medieval period. It was the tallest building in the world for 238 years. It is still the third largest Cathedral in Britain.

The Cathedrals incredible history includes events such as Hugh of Wells, Bishop of Lincoln, becoming one of the signatories to Magna Carta and for hundreds of years the cathedral held one of the four remaining copies of the original. This is now securely displayed in Lincoln Castle.

LINCOLN CASTLE

Dating back to the 11th century, this Norman castle was constructed by William the Conqueror, on the site of a pre-existing Roman fortress.

LINCOLN CITY CENTRE

A gorgeous historic city center brimming with stunning architecture, shops, restaurants and lots more to do and see, Lincoln contains some of the oldest architectural features within the UK, such as High Bridge which is the oldest bridge in the United Kingdom which still has buildings on it, dating back to 1160AD.
